Arab and African Parliaments Condemn Israel’s Attack on Qatar.

The Arab Parliament, chaired by Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamhi, and the African Parliament, chaired by Tashif Charoumbira, held an extraordinary meeting in Cairo on Friday to review recent developments in the region.

At the end of the meeting, the two parliaments issued a joint statement describing the Israeli regime’s attack on Qatar as “an aggression against all Arab and African countries” and “a clear violation of the UN Charter and international custom.”

The statement emphasized that the attack meant that the “law of the jungle” would prevail instead of international law.

The participants in the statement also condemned the Israeli regime’s continued war on the Gaza Strip, calling it an example of “genocide, ethnic cleansing, and organized starvation,” which has so far claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, mostly women and children.

The statement also referred to the Israeli regime’s war crimes in the West Bank.

The two parliaments criticized the silence of the international community and the lack of effective mechanisms to hold the Zionist regime accountable, stating that this approach actually encourages Israel to continue its crimes. In this regard, the United Nations and the Security Council were called upon to take action to immediately stop the attacks against the Palestinians and other Arab countries.

The statement welcomed South Africa’s move to file a lawsuit against Tel Aviv at the International Court of Justice and invited countries around the world to join the lawsuit.

The attendees also appreciated the positions of Egypt and Jordan in opposing the plans for the forced displacement of Palestinians.

The Arab and African parliaments continued by calling on countries around the world to recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.

They also called on international parliamentary institutions and unions to suspend the Zionist regime’s membership in the Knesset and designate it as an “abhorrent” entity.

The statement emphasizes the need to reform the decision-making mechanism in the United Nations, especially in the Security Council, and abolish the veto right.
