Arab League: Israel’s recognition of Somaliland threatens regional security.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abu al-Gheit said in a statement that he strongly condemns the Israeli regime’s move to recognize Somaliland as an independent state.

He also stressed the Arab League’s opposition to the Israeli regime’s move, which is “a clear violation of international law and a clear violation of the principle of territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries.”

Abu al-Gheit said that “any attempt to unilaterally recognize Somalia is unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of Somalia” and “is a dangerous practice that threatens regional and international security and stability.”

He added: “Israel, which commits gross violations (of international law and rights) against the Palestinian people and neighboring countries, has today violated the sovereignty of an Arab and African country (Somalia) with this recognition.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially recognized “Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state” on Friday.

A statement released by Netanyahu’s office said that the Israeli spy agency, known as Mossad, had a role in this.

In contrast, several countries and organizations, including Egypt, Turkey, Djibouti, Somalia, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, quickly rejected the Israeli regime’s unilateral action.

According to the report, the Somaliland region, which has not been recognized since it declared its secession from Somalia in 1991, operates as an independent entity in administrative, political, and security terms. This is because the central government of Somalia has not been able to extend its control and sovereignty over this region.

The Somali government refuses to recognize Somaliland as an independent state, considering it an integral part of the Somali Republic, and considers any direct dealings or interactions with it an attack on the sovereignty and unity of this republic.
