Arrest warrant issued without bail against Imran Khan and his wife
According to news India, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. The order has been issued against 94 other members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
The Islamabad anti-terrorism court issued the order after protests by Imran Khan’s supporters in the Pakistani capital last week.
Imran Khan, who has been in prison since 2023, on November 13 called on his supporters to hold nationwide protests until November 24. The order was issued in response to allegations of violence, rioting, and other crimes during the protests.
The former Pakistani prime minister was already facing several charges and was awaiting bail for some of them. Imran Khan’s call for nationwide protests led to widespread clashes in Islamabad, which ended after three days with the country’s security forces cracking down.
