Associated Press: The displacement of “Day of Nakbat” is much less than the current disaster in Gaza

PNN – The “Associated Press” news agency, referring to the impact of the Zionist regime’s attacks on the civilians of Gaza and the humanitarian crisis prevailing in this strip, wrote: As the Palestinians commemorate the 76th anniversary of their mass displacement from their lands, this experience pales in comparison to the catastrophe now unfolding in Gaza.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from this news agency, the day of Israel’s establishment, which Palestinians refer to as Nakba Day or Nakbat Day (Day of Disaster), is a reminder of the displacement of about 700,000 Palestinians from their ancestral homes and lands.

After the Arab-Israeli war in 1948, the Zionist regime did not allow the displaced Palestinians to return, because this would lead to the creation of a Palestinian majority within the alleged borders of this fake regime. As a result, the Palestinians became a refugee community, which now numbers around 6 million people. Most of the Palestinian refugees live in refugee camps and slums in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and the West Bank.

Palestinians worry about repeating history

Referring to the fact that about three quarters of the current population of the Gaza Strip are made up of refugees and their displaced children during the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime, the Associated Press wrote: Now, many Palestinians fear a repeat of their painful history on a more catastrophic scale than before.

This report added: The non-acceptance of the Palestinians’ right of return by the Zionist regime was one of the main points of disagreement in the conflict between the two sides and one of the most bitter issues in the peace talks, which failed 15 years ago. Displacement of Palestinians has always been at the core of their national struggle, but this displacement pales in comparison to the tragedy now unfolding in Gaza.

This report described the images of Palestinian civilians pouring in from the north of the Gaza Strip, who use any means to reach the safer areas south of the strip, and compared it to the black and white photos of the displacement of Palestinians after the Nakbat Day and wrote: The war in Gaza has forced about 1,700,000 Palestinians – about three quarters of the population of this strip – to leave their homes several times. This population is more than twice the number of Palestinian refugees before and during the 1948 war.

The international community opposes the forced migration of Palestinians

This news agency continued by referring to the reception of the extreme right-wing members of the Zionist regime’s cabinet with the mass expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, which they promote as “voluntary migration”, and added: The international community has strongly opposed the mass transfer of Palestinians from this strip.

For years, the Zionist regime has been demanding the acceptance of the Palestinian refugees of 1948 in the host countries. This regime claims that the request of the Palestinian side to return to their homeland is unrealistic and endangers their (fake) existence as a country with a Jewish majority. This Jewish majority refers to the hundreds of thousands of Jews who were transferred from other countries to Palestinian lands and occupied Palestinian homes in Jerusalem, Jaffa and other Palestinian cities during the past decades.

Associated Press added: Even if Palestinians are not displaced en masse from Gaza, there is concern that they will never be able to return to their homes because the destruction caused in this strip has made life there impossible.

According to a recent United Nations estimate, it will take until 2040 to rebuild the destroyed houses in the Gaza Strip. According to the World Bank’s estimate, 18 billion and 500 million dollars have been damaged in Gaza, which is roughly equivalent to the gross domestic product of the entire Palestinian territories in 2022.
