Atwan: Resistance missiles made Tel Aviv surrender, not Hochstein’s efforts.
Regional strategic affairs analyst Abdul Bari Atwan wrote in his new article in the electronic newspaper Rai al-Youm that following the news from the American and Zionist media creates the impression in the mind that a ceasefire in the Lebanese war is very close and will probably happen within the next two days. Of course, Hezbollah has not officially reacted to this wave of optimism, but at the same time, this silence cannot be considered a sign of satisfaction, especially since Hezbollah has previously warned Lebanese groups against spreading false news to create an atmosphere of deception and misguidance in the country and deepen differences among the Lebanese.
Atwan went on to examine several influential factors in the course of developments on the ground and wrote:
First, the wave of optimism about a ceasefire took place after the Zionists’ Black Sunday, in which more than 340 missiles and explosive drones were fired at the Zionist regime’s military and intelligence bases in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Safed, causing more than 4 million Zionists to flee to shelters. As a result of these attacks, the Ben Gurion store was closed and many fires were started in the occupied territories, and several people were injured.
Second: The sudden release of such news could be an attempt to reduce the level of terror among the Zionists in the north, center, and south of occupied Palestine, who spend their days and nights with sirens and rocket and drone explosions.
Third: Life in the north of the occupied territories and the cities of Western Galilee (including Acre, Nahariya, and Haifa) and Eastern Galilee (Safad) has been completely disrupted, to the point where the record of Hezbollah operations in one day has reached 51 operations, forcing all schools in these areas to close.
Fourth: Lebanese Hezbollah missiles, which are mostly heavy and accurate, have reached the port of Ashdod, the second largest port in the occupied territories, for the first time. Although this port was previously targeted by the Gaza resistance missiles, these missiles were less accurate. The missile attack on this port is considered an important development because in this way Hezbollah can also target the Dimona nuclear facility located adjacent to this port.
Atwan continued his article by emphasizing that if Netanyahu wants to continue the negotiations under the rain of missiles, Hezbollah’s lions will provide him with these conditions and will set many military records for them; records that are evident in the number and destructive power of their missiles and drones, and he rejects Netanyahu’s claims that he has destroyed more than 80 percent of Hezbollah’s military and missile capabilities.
The international affairs analyst adds that Netanyahu, or his green light for the ceasefire and his propaganda offensive that it is imminent, wants to cover up the defeat in Lebanon and at the same time accept the ceasefire to reduce his losses and casualties; This is even though its ground forces have failed to achieve any of their goals, either to return the displaced residents of the northern occupied territories to their homes or to end Hezbollah’s presence in Lebanon.
Atwan concluded by stating that it is the developments on the ground, the missiles, and the drones that will bring an end to the war in Lebanon and Gaza and that the actions of the US envoy Amos Hochstein, who recently traveled to Tel Aviv, have no impact on this. Sheikh Naim Qassem was completely truthful in his statements, stating that “the rain of missiles on Beirut will be accompanied by the rain of missiles on Tel Aviv, and Hezbollah will not surrender.” Now we see that the enemy’s cry has risen to the sky as a result of Hezbollah’s attacks last Sunday.
