Australia’s prime minister has suspended a pro-Palestinian senator Fatima Peyman from the party

PNN – Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister and the leader of the Australian Labor Party, suspended the membership of Afghan senator Fatima Peyman because of her support for Palestine.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoting from the website of the English Guardian magazine, this woman politician announced that she was rejected due to ignoring her party’s position of not voting for the recognition of the “Palestinian State” and that her colleagues tried to intimidate her.

This Afghan-Australian politician, who is a supporter of the Palestinians and an opponent of the Gaza war, voted for the process of recognizing the state of Palestine last week, in a move contrary to the decision of her party.

The Guardian wrote: Following this action, she was suspended from her party on Saturday and this decision was confirmed on Tuesday in the secret ballot of this party.

Peyman declared: I have been rejected, these actions lead me to believe that some members are trying to force me to resign from the Senate by intimidating me.

Albanese, as the leader of the ruling party, told the parliament of this country: Senator Peyman, with her actions, has placed herself outside the privileges that are obtained by being in the assembly of the labor party of the federal parliament.

On the other hand, the Green Party of Australia, which has 11 seats out of 76 seats in the Senate, reacted to the action of the ruling Labor Party, which currently has 26 seats in the Senate.

Mehreen Faruqi, a senator of Pakistani origin from New South Wales and the deputy of the Australian Green Party, called it a “shameful” act in response to this action of the Labor Party and the Prime Minister of this country.

Farooqi said in the Senate: Instead of boycotting Fatima Peyman, the Labor Party should focus its efforts on (the regime of) Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
