PNN – Axios, citing sources, claimed that the US president intends to include offensive weapons in his new plan to rearm Ukraine.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Reuters, the Axios news website wrote, citing two sources, that US President Donald Trump will unveil his new plan to rearm Ukraine, and that the plan includes offensive weapons in addition to defensive weapons.
Axios, citing the two sources, added that the offensive weapons include long-range missiles that can reach deep into Moscow. Trump had earlier said he would make a big statement about Russia today.
According to Ukrainian and American officials, Trump’s new plan was proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a NATO summit in The Hague. Sources told Axios that the meeting between Zelensky and Trump at that summit was their best yet.
Reacting to Trump’s recent decision to send Patriot air defense systems and plans to send long-range missiles to Ukraine, the hawkish American senator said: Trump is really angry with Putin. His statement is going to be extremely aggressive!
Referring to a new sanctions bill currently being prepared in the Senate, Graham said that this bill would give US President Donald Trump the power to “punish” Moscow and its trading partners!
Trump has previously said he will impose additional sanctions on Moscow if talks between Russia and Ukraine fail to reach a ceasefire. He has also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of obstructing the talks.
Graham told CBS News that despite taking tough stances against other countries, Trump “has left the door open on Russia, but that door is about to close.”
According to him, the bill currently in the US Senate would give Trump a sledgehammer with which to “target Putin’s economy and all the countries that fuel his war machine.”
The bill, if passed, would authorize Trump to impose 500 percent tariffs on countries that continue to trade with Russia. Graham singled out China, Brazil and India, adding that Trump would have “maximum flexibility” in imposing these measures.
Graham also said the US government was preparing to increase arms shipments to Kiev at “unprecedented levels.” He also mentioned a US plan to transfer frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
He added: I expect that in the coming days, Trump will have access to a tariff and sanctions bill that he has not had before.
