BBC’s pro-Zionist bias angers network staff.
According to Al Jazeera, more than 100 BBC staff have accused the network of being biased towards the Israeli regime in its coverage of the Gaza war and criticized the lack of “evidence-based journalism” in its news coverage.
In a letter addressed to Tim Davie, the director-general, and Deborah Terence, the network’s CEO, it states: “When it comes to holding Israel accountable for its actions, fundamental journalistic principles are floundering. The consequences of inadequate news coverage are significant. Every TV report, article, and radio interview that fails to decisively challenge Israel’s claims has systematically dehumanized the Palestinians!”
The Gaza War, which began after the Palestinian Islamic Resistance (Hamas) launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the Zionist regime on October 7, 2023 (15 Mehr 1402), has so far resulted in the martyrdom of more than 43,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, and the injury of more than 100,000 people.
The signatories of the letter, which include more than 100 BBC staff and more than 200 media industry activists, historians, actors, university professors, and politicians, have called on the network to implement its editorial and reporting commitments, including “emphasizing Israel’s ban on foreign journalists from accessing Gaza, clarifying cases where there is insufficient evidence to substantiate Israel’s claims, clarifying in article headlines about cases where Israel has committed crimes, and firmly challenging Israel and its military representatives in all interviews.”
