PNN – Special sources in southern Syria, pointing to the suspicious increase in the number of Israeli army checkpoints in the area, have warned about enemy espionage activities, stating that the occupiers are collecting personal information from citizens under the cover of distributing aid.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, since the beginning of Abu Muhammad al-Julani’s rule in Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8, 2024, the Israeli regime, in addition to destroying Syria’s military power, has carried out intense attacks on the country’s military positions and expanded its occupation, while conducting multiple interventionist and espionage activities in Syrian affairs.
In this context, while Israeli attacks on southern Syria—specifically Quneitra province and its surroundings—and the detention, harassment, and torture of Syrian citizens continue, local sources have reported an unusually large and significant increase in the number of Israeli army checkpoints in Quneitra villages.

Espionage activities of the Israeli occupiers in southern Syria
Informed sources told Al-Akhbar newspaper that the Israeli occupiers are trying to directly create a social database through checkpoints established by their soldiers in Quneitra villages and have launched a survey campaign among Syrian citizens.
According to the report, the surveys conducted by the Israelis among Syrian citizens include social questions about the number of family members, health and financial status, current and previous occupations, educational qualifications, basic and nutritional needs, as well as the level of support for the new Syrian government.
A resident of al-Asha village in southern Quneitra told Al-Akhbar that Israel’s movements indicate a precise approach to collecting data on Syrian citizens, and that the Israelis are seeking personal information from these people, especially adults and youth.

He added that the Israeli occupying forces, claiming to compile statistical tables for distributing aid among citizens, have taken photos of adults’ identification cards using advanced electronic devices.
The Syrian citizen, who wished to remain anonymous, said that in Hadar village, in exchange for providing cash aid of up to $450 per month, the occupiers conducted surveys that include espionage recruitment and brainwashing of Syrian citizens.
The source explained that the Israelis’ efforts to collect statistics on Syrian citizens are concentrated in areas suitable for the movements of the occupying forces, particularly al-Hamidiyah, al-Qahtaniyah, Rasm al-Rawadi, Rasm al-Bayda, and Rasm Abu Shabta.
The source emphasized that in other areas, such as Bir Ajm and al-Asbah, the situation appears different; despite the enemy’s attempts to entice Syrian citizens to collect data from them, these citizens firmly refuse to fall into the enemy’s trap and insist that they cannot accept the normalization of the occupiers’ presence among them.
In this regard, special sources revealed to Al-Akhbar that last Tuesday, the Israeli occupying forces distributed 50 liters of diesel per family in al-Hamidiyah village. It should be noted that these actions are not the first of their kind, and since last winter, after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, the Israeli regime had prepared a plan to make the southern Syrian community dependent on its aid.
According to the report, while claiming to help the residents of southern Syria, the Israelis have stopped the flow of goods from various areas to this region and disrupted agricultural activity, which is the main source of livelihood for the people here.
A special source told Al-Akhbar: In fact, the Israeli regime is exploiting material needs to fragment the southern Syrian community, while simultaneously seeking to intensify divisions among Syrians.
The source emphasized that under the cover of non-military activities such as providing aid, the Israelis continue their military operations in southern Syria to distract citizens from the military movements of the occupiers, such as the movement of Israeli army tanks in southern Syria.
The source added that despite this, Syrian citizens remain committed to their land and do not fall into the enemy’s trap, repeatedly burning aid provided by the occupying forces. It should be noted that the Syrian people are under severe economic pressures, which could lead to the collapse of the social fabric, intensify feelings of insecurity, and create conditions for enemy infiltration.
