Beijing and Islamabad call for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.

The seventh round of Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue was held yesterday in Beijing and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Agreement to expand comprehensive economic cooperation

During the talks, the two sides had a comprehensive exchange of views on bilateral relations and cooperation in a wide range of areas, including strategic and political cooperation, as well as in the fields of defense and security, economy, trade, investment, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

International and regional issues of common interest were also discussed. The two sides agreed to strengthen strategic communication, deepen strategic mutual trust, jointly safeguard their common interests, promote the economic and social development of the two countries, and maintain and advance peace, development, and prosperity in the region and beyond.

Islamabad and Beijing fully support each other

Pakistan reiterated its firm commitment to the one-China principle and reaffirmed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. Pakistan firmly supports China’s efforts to achieve national unity and opposes any “Taiwan independence” or any attempt to create “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan”.

Pakistan also firmly supported China on issues related to Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.

China reiterated its firm support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. China supports Pakistan in pursuing a development path suited to national conditions and achieving economic prosperity, and supports Pakistan in resolutely combating terrorism and playing a greater role in international and regional affairs.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan and China, while calling on the international community to strengthen anti-terrorism cooperation, expressed their firm opposition to double standards in combating terrorism.

Prospects for space cooperation

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the expansion of space cooperation and the early arrival of Pakistani astronauts to the Chinese space station. They agreed to explore space peacefully and beneficially for further economic and social development and well-being.
