Beijing-Washington conflict management; Beijing’s goal in hosting the US Secretary of State

PNN – A Chinese Foreign Ministry official, referring to the constant conflicts in Beijing-Washington relations and the need to manage them, told the media that his country will focus on five main goals during the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoting CGTN news agency, Yang Tao, director general of the Department of North American and Pacific Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said: These five goals include building sound understanding, strengthening dialogue, effectively managing disputes, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation, and assuming shared responsibilities as great nations.

Yang Tao said about creating a correct understanding that China and the US cannot stop their exchanges or interactions, and they should not have disputes and arguments.

He emphasized: China-US relations should remain stable, improve, move in a stable, healthy and stable path and China should maintain its interests and principles.

He added: The diplomatic teams of the two sides discussed the strategic principles of China-US relations based on seven points of consensus, namely mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, maintaining communication, preventing conflicts, following the UN Charter, cooperation in areas of common interest and management.

Yang Tao pointed out that consultations between 20 institutions were established or resumed after the meeting of the heads of the two countries in San Francisco and they continue to work and said: China’s doors have always been open for dialogue and communication. He asked the United States to be consistent in its words and actions and to give up the illusion of relations with China “from a position of power”.

This Chinese official said about the effective management of disputes: There have been, are, and will be conflicts between China and the United States, but they should not allow these differences to overcome bilateral relations.

Yang Tao said China will focus on clarifying its official position and making clear demands on issues related to Taiwan, trade, science and technology and the South China Sea.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin announced on Monday that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will be in China from Wednesday to Friday.
