Belgium’s Ghent University has stopped relations with a number of Israeli research centers

PNN – Belgium’s Ghent University decided to stop its cooperation with three research centers of the Zionist regime following the massive demonstrations of pro-Palestinian students.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Al Jazeera wrote: Based on this decision, Ghent stopped its relations with the centers that cooperate with the Israeli army in the production of weapons.

This decision was taken after the students of Ghent organized a sit-in in support of Palestine in line with the international student protests and demanded to cut ties with Israeli universities.

Josep Borrell, the head of the European Union’s foreign policy, recently announced that four European countries, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and Malta, intend to recognize Palestine as an independent country.

He added: It is a symbolic act of a political nature to recognize the independence of a state, which Belgium and other European countries will probably follow.

Burrell said that European countries plan to declare the independence of Palestine on May 21.

On the other hand, Belgium welcomed the positive vote of the United Nations General Assembly for Palestine’s full membership in this international organization and the recommendation to review the Security Council’s previous decision in this regard.

Belgian Foreign Minister Hajjah Lahabib wrote on X social network: We were among the drafters of this resolution on the status of Palestine in the United Nations and we voted for it.

He added: The message sent by Belgium in this regard is clear. Palestine must have a full place in international institutions. This issue is an important step towards a two-state solution and a valid peace process.
