Ben-Gvir seeks to ban Adhan in the occupied territories.

Ben-Gvir seeks to ban Adhan in the occupied territories.

The Haaretz newspaper reported in a news release that Israeli Minister of Internal Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, in an instruction to police commanders, called for strict measures and actions to prevent the broadcast of the call to prayer from mosque loudspeakers in Palestinian cities and villages in the 1948 territories.

According to the report, the sound of the call to prayer is very annoying for the Zionists and must be stopped immediately.

According to the Hebrew-language media outlet, Ben-Gvir’s directive was issued during a secret meeting held in his office with senior commanders of the Israeli police.

The meeting was held in the absence of the head of the Israeli police and the presence of high-ranking police officers, while Ben-Gvir’s security secretary, Sami Marciano, also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, which was held 10 days ago, Ben-Governor expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the police forces and told the officers, “I appointed you to implement my policies; you must implement them.”

Ben-Governor later praised the performance of Yair Hezroni, commander of the Central District of the Israeli Police, saying that he had fined several mosques for broadcasting the call to prayer, while other commanders had failed to do so.

Haaretz emphasized in another part of its report that some police officers, in response to Ben-Gwer’s request, emphasized that these actions could lead to widespread tensions and even street protests. Meanwhile, the absence of the Israeli police chief also indicated the continued disagreement and tension between the two.
