Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions that hindered the transfer of Palestinian prisoners.
According to Al Jazeera Qatar, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that it had decided to postpone the release of Palestinian prisoners due to what it called Hamas’s violation of the agreement until it was assured that Israeli prisoners would be released without degrading treatment.
The office expressed anger at how the Israeli prisoners were handed over, claiming that Hamas was deliberately undermining their dignity and using them for propaganda and political purposes.
Netanyahu’s office claimed that: Accordingly, Israel has emphasized that it will stop the prisoner exchange process until the next prisoner release is carried out without degrading treatment.
Al-Mayadeen also announced that Israeli media outlets, citing their sources, announced that the Palestinian prisoners were put on a bus, then taken off again and returned to their cells.
On the other hand, the American news outlet Axios also announced, citing an Israeli official, that the decision to postpone the release of the prisoners was made after two security meetings that Netanyahu held on Saturday evening.
The Israeli official told Axios that the security chiefs had advised against delaying the release of Palestinian prisoners.
The Israeli official added that security officials were concerned that delaying the release of prisoners would overshadow the process of returning the bodies of Israeli prisoners.
The Israeli official added that at the end of the first meeting, there was a desire to release the Palestinian prisoners.
The decision was changed at the second meeting, which was attended only by Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli official added, citing the Israeli official.
