Biden again defends Israel’s actions in an annual speech.
In his annual State of the Nation address, US President Joe Biden once again defended Israel’s actions in Gaza and claimed that Israel has the right to confront Hamas.
“Israel has the right to confront Hamas,” Biden said. “Hamas can end this conflict by releasing the hostages, laying down their weapons, and surrendering the perpetrators of October 5.”
The American president continued to repeat the unproven claims against Hamas and said: “Given that Hamas takes shelter like cowards among the civilian population, under hospitals, care centers and places like that, Israel has an additional responsibility.”
“But Israel has a fundamental responsibility to protect innocent civilians in Gaza,” he said.
The US President claimed that he was trying to establish a temporary 6-week ceasefire in Gaza. He claimed: “I have been working non-stop to establish a ceasefire that will last for six weeks, to bring home all the hostages and to relieve this unbearable human suffering and move towards something more durable.”
