Biden: Assad’s fall is a moment of risk and uncertainty.
According to Al Jazeera, the United States is among the countries that are pleased with the events in Syria and see Bashar al-Assad’s departure from power as an opportunity for what is called the reshaping of the Middle East.
Accordingly, in response to the fall of the Syrian central government, US President Joe Biden said: Although we support the changes in Syria, the fall of Bashar al-Assad is also a moment of risk and uncertainty, and now what will happen in the future is a serious question for us.
He continued: The United States will work with its partners in the region, as well as with the various parties in Syria, to find opportunities to manage the existing risks.
Biden continued, in obvious exaggerations, claiming: For years, the Bashar al-Assad government has benefited from the support of foreign actors, but now these actors are much weaker than when I entered the White House. Iran made a big mistake by opening multiple fronts against Israel after the attacks of October 7, 2023.
The United States currently has more than 900 troops in eastern Syria and in the country’s oil fields. Washington also supports the Syrian Kurdish forces known as the Syrian Democratic Forces. However, the current situation in Syria is complex and the country’s political future is uncertain.
