PNN – The Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan described the killing of children in Gaza as unjustifiable and shocking and added: The continuation of military operations is not in the interest of any party, including Israel.
According to Pakistan News Network, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said in an interview with the American PBS television channel that we are witnessing an unprecedented massacre in Gaza and this massacre cannot be justified with any excuse of self-defense.
He added: The continuation of military operations is not in the interest of any party, including the Zionist regime.
He continued: The pictures of dead children in Gaza are shocking and cause anger not only for Arabs, but for the whole world.
According to Bin Farhan, people are losing their trust in what he called the “two-state” solution and the discussion of peace in the region and international systems.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also called for a ceasefire in Gaza during his visit to Washington on Friday.
He said that ending the war in Gaza does not seem to be the priority of the international community.
Bin Farhan continued by asking the UN Security Council to establish a ceasefire in Gaza: We must end the war immediately and this is our message.
He has traveled to Washington as a member of the delegation of Arab Islamic countries.
The resolution proposed by the United Arab Emirates was put to the vote at the United Nations Security Council meeting on Friday, where 15 members of this council voted in favor, one member, the United States of America, voted against and the other member of the council, Britain, abstained from voting.
The United Arab Emirates had submitted a short draft resolution to the council, which called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” and had the support of Arab and Islamic countries.
The proposed resolution, which was not approved by the Security Council, expressed deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population, emphasizing that the Palestinian civilian population and the Israeli regime should be protected based on international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a letter to the President of the Security Council Citing Article 99 of the UN Charter regarding the wide range of human casualties in Gaza following the Israeli war.
Article 99 of the UN Charter, which has been used only 9 times in the history of this organization, states that the Secretary-General can inform the Security Council of any issue that he believes may threaten the maintenance of peace and international security.
