Blinken: Israel has agreed to withdraw some of its forces from Gaza

PNN – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told reporters in Qatar that the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas includes a clause for the withdrawal of some Israeli army units from the area, and Tel Aviv has agreed to this.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from “Tass” report, he emphasized: America does not accept any long-term occupation of Gaza by Israel. Specifically, the agreement on the schedule and locations of the (Israeli army) withdrawal from Gaza is very clear and Israel has agreed to it.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, has repeatedly stated that this regime will be responsible for the “overall security” of Gaza for an “indefinite period” after the end of the war.

America has opposed these statements.

On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance groups launched the “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation from Gaza against the positions of the Israeli regime. After November 24, 2023, a four-day temporary ceasefire was established between Israel and Hamas, or the pause for the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel. This pause or temporary ceasefire lasted for seven days and finally ended on December 10, 2023, and the Israeli regime resumed attacks on Gaza.

Foreign Policy: America’s global role should be reduced

The Ministry of Health of Gaza announced on Tuesday that the number of martyrs in Gaza has reached 40,173 and the number of injured has reached 92,857 since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa storm operation.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told reporters in Tel Aviv on Monday about the ongoing Gaza ceasefire talks that Israel had accepted a US-backed ceasefire proposal and that Hamas was “obligated” to do the same.

The Secretary of State of the Democratic administration, Joe Biden, also said that the meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “very productive”.

Blinken reiterated America’s commitment to Israel’s security and added: “This is a commitment we have fulfilled every day since October 7.”

Al-Arabi Network published the details of Washington’s proposals, based on which technical negotiations will be held about the Philadelphia axis. In the mentioned plan, the discussion about the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is foreseen in the second phase of the negotiations. It has also been emphasized on the creation of a monitoring mechanism for the return of refugees to the north of the Gaza Strip.

Al-Mayadeen network also quoted an informed Palestinian source as saying that the new American proposal is completely different from the proposals previously agreed upon by the parties, and that the new American proposal is based on the May plan and is in line with the new conditions and demands of the Israeli regime.

This Palestinian source added: the new American proposal is similar to the position of the Israeli regime and the new demands of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In this proposal, a permanent and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is not included.

According to this source, according to the plan proposed by the US, a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will be negotiated in the second phase and within the framework of a specific ceiling, and if Hamas does not agree to Israel’s demands, this regime will resume the second phase of the war.
