Blinken’s presence in Qatar to negotiate the release of soldiers in Gaza

PNN – A spokesman for the US State Department said that Blinken in Qatar is an important partner in the current efforts to free the prisoners in Gaza.

According to Pakistan News Network, the spokesperson of the US State Department on Sunday evening, referring to the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Doha, said that Qatar is an important partner in the current efforts to free the hostages in the Gaza Strip.

He continued: “Blinken is in Qatar to continue the current efforts based on the strong relations between Washington and Doha.”

Before traveling to Qatar, Blinken was in Jordan. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi (Sunday, January 7) hosted his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, and discussed with him the developments in Gaza and the increasing humanitarian disaster of the current war in the Gaza Strip.

According to this report, in this meeting, the two sides emphasized on the immediate cessation of war, support for civilians, and guaranteeing the sending of sufficient and permanent humanitarian and medical aid to all areas of Gaza.

According to Al-Mayadeen, during this meeting, the Jordanian foreign minister discussed the necessity of stopping Israel’s illegal actions in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem with his American counterpart, and the two sides discussed several other regional and bilateral issues.

Blinken arrived in Amman on Saturday night after Türkiye and Greece. The US Secretary of State, before leaving Greece for Jordan last night, said: “We must ensure that the conflict in Gaza does not expand, especially as it enters the fourth month. One of the real areas of concern is the border between Israel and Lebanon, and we want to do everything possible to not escalate the situation there.”

After Qatar, Blinken will go to Abu Dhabi and on Monday he will travel to Saudi Arabia and finally to the occupied Palestinian territories.
