PNN – “Bloomberg” website wrote today in an analysis of the “global war” between Russia and Ukraine that although Western countries have achieved some of their goals through this conflict, Russia has now been able to take the initiative with the help of its allies, and its recent victories have made Ukraine’s victory no longer seem certain.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Bloomberg Economic Network analyst wrote that in the first days of the war, Western countries achieved several of their goals. First, the increase in defense spending in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the joining of Finland and Sweden to this agreement. Second, strengthening the defense power of some Western Pacific countries against China. Third, reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian energy and ultimately creating a gap between European countries and China.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine has also revealed the fragility of the Western defense industry and provided an opportunity to strengthen it.

In the continuation of this Bloomberg report, it is stated: On the other hand, Russia was able to stand up through relations with some of its allies, including North Korea and China, and after the failure of Ukraine’s counterattack in mid-2023, it regained the initiative. An efficient division of labor changed the course of the war and began imposing costs on the West.
Bloomberg wrote: By prolonging the war in Ukraine, Russia and its allies have gained a strategic advantage and are keeping America’s attention focused on Europe. Meanwhile, Pyongyang is conducting record-breaking ballistic missile tests. An action that, in the absence of the war in Ukraine, would attract the attention of America much more than the current situation.
Thanks to the ongoing war, Russia and its allies have been encouraged to invest in trade routes immune to Western pressure and sanctions, such as the Caspian Corridor that connects Russia and Iran. At the same time, the strategic partnership of China, Iran and North Korea has also been strengthened, which may one day come in handy when facing another superpower.
For a while, it seemed that Ukraine and its allies had won the battle. These days, such a conclusion is not so certain. Russia now has the initiative on the battlefield and its forces are slowly gaining ground.
