Bloomberg: Saudi Arabia is not willing to cooperate with the United States to fight the Houthis

PNN – The American news agency Bloomberg, citing sources in Washington, wrote that action against the Yemenis in the Red Sea has been hindered due to the disputes between the Arab countries and the United States.

According to the International group of Pakistan News Network, the operations of the Yemeni armed forces in the Red Sea and preventing the movement of ships towards Israel have progressed to the point where Tel Aviv authorities have reached out to the United States and demanded military action against the Yemenis. But this option has faced the lack of support from the Arab countries.

In this regard, Bloomberg news agency, quoting informed sources in Washington, wrote that confronting the Yemenis has faced a major obstacle due to the differences between the Arab allies of the United States, and the positions of Saudi Arabia are not in line with the United States, and this issue has led to a military response to Yemen in the Red Sea.

According to this source, while the UAE wants military action against the Yemenis, Saudi Arabia wants a moderate solution and is afraid that any war will provoke the Yemenis.

In this regard, a Saudi official told Bloomberg: “Military action may jeopardize the ceasefire between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and frustrate Riyadh’s efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement with Sana’a.”

On the other hand, Bloomberg news agency quoted an American official and wrote that the White House is in contact with the Yemenis through Oman and other mediators and asks them to stop the attacks.

A spokesman for the Yemeni forces also told this news agency: “We confirm these calls, but we will continue our attacks until Israel stops fighting in Gaza.”

Mission impossible; US naval coalition against Yemen.

But it is not only Saudi Arabia that opposes the US military action against Sana’a; An informed Egyptian source also told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed website that the country does not intend to join any coalition against the Yemeni forces.

This Egyptian source said that Cairo still adheres to its position to resolve tensions and crises through consultation with different parties, and regarding the security of the Red Sea, it is limited to playing a role within the framework of “Joint Forces 153”. A coalition formed in 2021 of 34 countries with the aim of “providing maritime security” and “empowering naval forces in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden”.

According to him, Egypt has put specific and principled policies on the agenda in order to solve its concerns about the Suez Canal. He said: “There is continuous communication between Egypt and Iran on the one hand and between Egypt and the Houthis on the other hand; For some time, communication between Egypt and the Houthis has been established through security channels, and these channels were established mainly with the aim of ensuring the safety of navigation in the Red Sea in general, so that navigation in the Suez Canal is not affected.

This source confirmed that “so far, there has been no damage to the navigation movement in the Suez Canal, which would cause Egypt’s concern”, and added: “Cairo has received messages from parties affiliated with the resistance axis that confirm the accuracy of the information that emphasizes that the Houthis only target ships moving towards the port of Eilat.”

According to him, the route that is specific to the Suez Canal is not among the targets of the Yemeni forces.

In this regard, Mohammad Abd al-Salam, the head of the negotiating committee of the National Salvation Government of Yemen, told Al-Masirah: “Every action that the Yemeni armed forces take is related to lifting the blockade and stopping aggression in Gaza, and our operations are only aimed at targeting Israeli ships and ships that go to the ports of this regime. Therefore, we emphasize that the Red Sea is a safe zone for all ships, except for ships that are somehow connected to the Israeli enemy.

Abdus Salam stressed: “Anyone who wants to stop our operations must remove the blockade of Gaza and bring food and medicine into Gaza.”

In recent weeks, in parallel with the intensification of the Israeli regime’s attacks against Gaza, the Yemeni army has narrowed the field on Israeli ships that intend to pass through the Bab al-Mandab strait in the Red Sea, and has already targeted the occupied Palestinian lands and specifically the port with drones and missiles.

40% of the world’s international trade is carried out through this strait, which passes between Yemen, at the southwestern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, and the African continent.
