PNN – Scientific research in the occupied territories is facing a critical situation, and the future of scientific research for the Zionist regime is shrouded in uncertainty.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Russia Al-Yawm, scientific research in the occupied territories is facing an unprecedented crisis, and some reports indicate that the Zionist regime is on the verge of scientific collapse. Experts believe this situation is the result of a combination of international sanctions, reduced investments, and the departure of scientific elites.
According to a report by a center named the “Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities,” the Zionist regime’s investment in academic research and development has been steadily declining over the past decade; between the years 2014 and 2023, these investments decreased by 4 percent, while the average investment in member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) increased by 20 percent during the same period.
“David Harel,” the president of this academy, referring to the existing crisis in the scientific circles of this regime, emphasized that Israel has now become an internationally rejected and isolated institution in the field of scientific research.
The continuation of the three-year war and the intensification of recent military operations against the Gaza Strip have also fueled the crisis. This situation has caused many international research forums and programs, including financial support from the “Horizon Europe” program, to be halted, and domestic researchers are facing a shortage of financial resources.
The mentioned report also shows that the migration of scientific elites abroad and the reduction of their participation in international conferences pose a serious threat to the future of scientific research for the Zionist regime. At the same time, researchers in the humanities and social sciences bear the brunt of the limitations on international cooperation.
Experts warn that the continuation of this trend without urgent action will leave long-term and irreversible consequences and severely weaken the scientific and international standing of the Israeli regime.
This crisis, in addition to its internal consequences, is also a reflection of the international isolation of the Israeli regime due to its policies and actions against the Palestinian people.
