Britain and France support the International Criminal Court against US sanctions.

According to Al Jazeera, Britain and France reacted to the US government’s sanctions on the International Criminal Court.

According to this report, the British Prime Minister’s spokesman announced: “We support the independence of the International Criminal Court and do not intend to sanction its officials.”

The French Foreign Ministry also emphasized: “France and its partners will work to ensure that the International Criminal Court continues to be able to carry out its mission in an independent manner.”

This stance by Britain and France comes as 79 countries around the world condemned US sanctions against the International Criminal Court and announced their support for this international court.

While announcing this news, Reuters reported that 79 countries around the world warned in a statement about the risk of impunity and the weakening of international law following US sanctions against the International Criminal Court.

These countries emphasized that US sanctions against the International Criminal Court will weaken the process of examining cases in this court.

US President Donald Trump signed a new executive order on Thursday night local time to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court.
