PNN – The British representative to the Security Council expressed concern over the statements of the Israeli Minister of War regarding the “unlimited” presence of the regime’s army in Syria.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, on the website of the British Mission to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, the British Ambassador to the United Nations, added on Tuesday local time at the Security Council meeting on the Middle East on the issue of Syria: We are concerned by the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz that Israel’s presence in the de-escalation zone and the Golan Heights could be indefinite.
He continued: This is unacceptable and Israel must provide a clear and reasonable timetable for its withdrawal from Syrian territory, based on international law.
In another part of his remarks, the British representative said: We reiterate our call for an inclusive political transition that prioritizes the participation and leadership of women in Syria.
Woodward stressed: A peaceful and secure country is in the best interests of all Syrians and the region. Diplomacy and dialogue are the best way to achieve this goal, and we call on all parties to refrain from further violence and exercise restraint at this critical moment.
The British representative added: A clear approach to accountability and transitional justice is essential for national reconciliation and to prevent a repeat of the violence we have seen this month. We call for a consultative and inclusive process and appointments to the Syrian transitional government that reflect the rich diversity of this country.

As Western sanctions against Syria continue, the British representative claimed: We recognise the enormous challenges of rebuilding Syria, and this will not be possible without economic recovery and concerted support from the international community. In this regard, the UK has eased some sanctions on Syria and lifted the asset freeze on 24 entities and institutions in the country’s energy, transport and financial sectors.
Al-Mayadeen News Network reported, citing local Syrian sources, that the Israeli regime attacked the town of “Koyeh” in the western outskirts of Daraa province.
The sources reported the shelling of Koyeh in the Yarmouk Basin area in southern Syria by Israeli tanks and stated that the continuous attacks by the occupiers on this town have caused its residents to flee to nearby towns and villages.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army also attacked the Syrian military bases of Palmyra and T-4.
The attacks on Syria are taking place in a situation where, following the armed forces’ takeover of Damascus and the fall of Bashar al-Assad, the Zionist regime has repeatedly targeted the country’s military infrastructure and occupied large parts of its territory.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz had recently claimed that these attacks were carried out in line with the policy of “demilitarizing southern Syria.”
He claimed: We will not allow southern Syria to become southern Lebanon.
