Britain warns of Israeli plan to forcibly annex Gaza

PNN – The British Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, without explicitly condemning the resumption of the Israeli regime’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, announced that London opposes the forcibly annex of the region to the occupied territories.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, James Kariuki, the British Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said in a speech, a copy of which was published on the British government’s website: It is truly horrifying to see the bloodshed in Gaza continue this week, with hundreds of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks since March 18. Stating that the British government is “strongly opposed to the resumption of hostilities by Israel,” he called for the parties to return to dialogue and fully implement the ceasefire agreement.

The British Deputy Representative also expressed regret over the Israeli regime’s attack on a UN headquarters in Gaza, saying: We call for a full investigation into this incident and express our condolences to the victims and their families. He added: Israel must immediately restore humanitarian access and electricity to Gaza; otherwise it may be violating international humanitarian law.

Referring to the worrying developments in the West Bank, Kariuki also said: We are deeply concerned about the scale of Israel’s military operations in the region and the displacement of some 40,000 Palestinian refugees. He reiterated the Israeli regime’s alleged right to self-defense, emphasizing that civilian must be protected and that military action must be proportionate to the threat.

The British diplomat announced that the country’s government has so far imposed three rounds of sanctions against violent settlers and their supporters. He added: In the absence of adequate action from Israel to respond, we will explore all possible options. Kariuki called for a halt to settlement construction in the West Bank and warned that the Zionist regime’s actions, in addition to destroying the prospect of establishing an independent Palestinian state, are illegal.

In another part of his speech, the British Deputy Representative welcomed the Arab countries’ plan for the reconstruction and revitalization of Gaza and called on all parties to “constructively cooperate with this initiative.” He concluded by once again calling for the full implementation of the ceasefire and claiming that peace can be achieved through the so-called two-state solution.

The Zionist regime launched a devastating war against the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 60,000 martyrs and tens of thousands injured. This war not only caused widespread destruction of the region’s infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and water and electricity supply networks, but also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, severe food shortages, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Images released from Gaza show the complete destruction of residential neighborhoods, long lines of people waiting to receive the meager humanitarian aid, and hospitals unable to provide medical services due to a lack of medicine and fuel.

After weeks of intensive mediation negotiations with the participation of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, an agreement for a ceasefire between the Israeli regime and Palestinian resistance groups was implemented. The agreement included a cessation of hostilities and an exchange of prisoners, but the Israeli regime, in violation of its commitments, has resumed widespread attacks against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza. The clashes have intensified in recent days, and the number of Palestinian martyrs is rapidly increasing.
