PNN – British Deputy Foreign Minister claimed that the London government will make every effort to fully implement the UN Security Council resolution on establishing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, “Andrew Mitchell” claimed during a speech at a special session of the British House of Commons about the situation in Gaza: Britain has long called for an immediate cessation of hostilities for the safe release of hostages (Israeli prisoners) and for more aid to reach inside Gaza.
The British diplomat stated that the international community should use the opportunity of the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza and added: We want to see an immediate and lasting cessation of conflicts so that the safe release of the hostages (Israeli prisoners) and the arrival of more aid to Gaza are possible. This is what the Security Council resolution calls for, and our government is focused on implementing it as soon as possible.
He added: The Security Council’s resolution also sends a clear message about the need to observe international humanitarian law by all involved parties and to immediately increase the sending of aid. This requires the removal of all obstacles that have prevented the flow of aid into Gaza.
“Palestinian civilians face a devastating and escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” Mitchell said, adding that the government continues to repeat these messages in its contacts with Israel and is exploring all avenues to deliver ground, sea and air aid.

He claimed: We want Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security. An immediate cessation of hostilities leading to a lasting ceasefire is the best way to achieve a lasting peace. We continue to work on the key elements needed to make such a process successful.
British Deputy Foreign Minister claimed: We also want to see the removal of Hamas’ capacity to attack Israel. Hamas can no longer remain in Gaza. Finally, we must offer the Palestinians a political horizon that provides a credible and irreversible path to a two-state solution.
Stating that the recent resolution of the Security Council does not guarantee this solution, Mitchell added: But this resolution is a step forward and the government will not spare any efforts to create this opportunity. We want to create an irreversible movement towards lasting peace.
On Monday, the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution supporting an immediate ceasefire in the strip after nearly 6 months since the start of the war against Gaza and the martyrdom of tens of thousands of Palestinians.
In this resolution, all parties are asked to respect the immediate cessation of conflicts in the month of Ramadan, but the occupation regime’s crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people are still continuing despite the approval of this resolution.
This regime has closed all crossings in the Gaza Strip and while bombing this strip, it does not allow the arrival of relief aid for civilians. According to reports, more than 32,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 74,000 others have been injured.
