PNN – A British journalist said that British and French intelligence agencies played a role in the assassination of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi.

Afshin Ratans, a prominent British journalist, announced in an interview that Western intelligence services were involved in the murder of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of the former Libyan leader.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was killed by four gunmen at his residence in the northwestern Libyan city of Zintan last week. The 53-year-old politician had planned to run in Libya’s presidential election.

Ratans said that immediately after Saif al-Islam’s assassination, sources informed him that the operation was the work of British Military Intelligence (MI6) and a local proxy force. He also added: There were indications that France was also involved.

The journalist emphasized that with the killing of Gaddafi’s eldest son, Libya’s future prospects cannot be promising.

According to him, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi also intended to revive the same ideas, which is why Britain and France strongly did not want him to win the upcoming Libyan elections.

In response to the incident, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Moscow strongly condemns this crime and expects the assassination of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi to be fully investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice.
