Burrell: Europe cannot replace America in helping Ukraine.
The European Union’s foreign policy official has said that the European Union is unable to fill the void caused by Washington’s suspension of aid to Ukraine.
“Joseph Burrell”, the head of the foreign policy of the European Union, stated today in a gathering of journalists at the meeting of the European political community in “Granada”, Spain, that despite the fact that the European Union intends to increase financial and military aid to Ukraine, it is not able to. which fills the vacuum of the United States in this matter and replaces it.
“The European Union definitely cannot replace the United States. “Europe is currently increasing its aid: there is a proposal to allocate 50 billion euros in financial aid and 20 billion euros in military aid.”
He continued, however, that despite EU aid, Kyiv needs US aid and the EU still counts on the resumption of this aid.
After the Republicans refused to include the allocation of funds for Ukraine in the federal budget bill, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, expressed concern about the possibility of stopping the American aid to Ukraine to fight against Russia.
In this regard, yesterday (Wednesday), the American newspaper “Wall Street Journal” reported that Ukrainian and American officials say that if money is not injected from Congress to the federal government, the US budget system for the rights of Ukrainians and the expenses of the Kyiv government next month.
A Ukrainian official said that Ukraine’s finance ministry had expected delays in providing Ukraine’s budget due to the war-torn federal government shutdown and had the resources to meet October’s budget needs, but after November (next month), the Ukrainian government would likely have to make decisions about reducing some services and salaries and may have to borrow money to face these problems.
On the other hand, European Council President Charles Michel said before the start of the meeting of the European political community in Granada that Biden assured his European partners a few days ago that Washington would support Ukraine in the long term.
In this regard, he said: “A few days ago, we had an important telephone conversation with President Joe Biden. “He assured us that the United States would support Ukraine in the long term.”
By claiming that the Russian attack against his country is an act against the whole of Europe, the Zelenskyi government has so far attracted hundreds of billions of dollars in military aid from Western countries. American aid to Ukraine alone has exceeded one hundred billion dollars, and some of NATO’s most advanced equipment has gone to the battlefields with Russia; Leopard tanks and Patriot anti-aircraft systems are among these.
In spite of sending massive equipment from Western countries to Ukraine, many experts evaluate the possibility of this country winning the battle against the Russians as insignificant.
