Canada calls the Israeli decision to occupy Gaza a mistake.

According to the Globe and Mail, Carney said at a news conference in Trenton, referring to global opposition to the occupation of Gaza: “We agree with many countries that this is wrong.”

Stating that this measure does not help end the war, he stressed that the occupation of Gaza “does not help improve humanitarian conditions and, instead of reducing the risk to the lives of prisoners, exposes them to greater danger.”

The Canadian Prime Minister added: “We reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire and we call on Hamas to immediately return all prisoners and their remains.”

Carney announced last week that Canada intends to recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly next month (September).

The decision of the Israeli aggressor regime to occupy Gaza has been met with widespread protest worldwide, and several countries, officials, international and human rights organizations have emphasized in their positions the need to stop the war against the Gaza Strip and establish a ceasefire.

Netanyahu’s plan has also been met with widespread negative reaction in internal circles of the Zionist regime, including military and security circles.

In this regard, the Zionist newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” reported that the commanders of the regime’s army emphasized in their internal meetings their opposition to the cabinet’s plan to occupy Gaza City due to the exhaustion of the military, the lack of ammunition and military equipment, and the dangerous consequences of such an action.
