Canada’s indecision in supporting the positions of the Zionist regime.

Canada’s indecision in supporting the positions of the Zionist regime.
In a statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada called on all parties involved in the Gaza war to accept an immediate ceasefire as soon as possible to allow foreign nationals to leave Gaza and humanitarian aid to enter the region.

Three days after the Canadian government refused to accept the UN resolution to establish a ceasefire between Hamas and the Zionist regime, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country now wants to establish a “humanitarian ceasefire” in this war.

According to Politico, this is the latest sign of the incoherence of the Canadian government’s foreign policy. While this country did not announce its clear vote during the recent UN voting for a cease-fire in Gaza, it has now called for a cease-fire between the parties to the conflict. This duality increases when we know that even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau supported “stopping humanitarian aid” in the form of helping the people of Gaza.

Now, “Melanie Jolly”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, during the statements that tried to define the foreign policy of this country in the current crisis, said: Time is running out and we need an agreement between all parties for the departure of foreign nationals, including Canadians. We need to be involved.

Joly emphasized the necessity of sending food, fuel, and water to the Gaza Strip, while Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Saturday: The second phase of the war has begun, and the violence in Gaza is expected to increase by this regime.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the United Nations, in a resolution, called for the protection of civilians and compliance with “legal and humanitarian obligations” during this growing crisis. However, the Canadian government, while expressing opposition to the positions raised against the Zionist regime in this resolution, abstained from voting on it.

14 other countries, including the United States, also voted against the aforementioned resolution, and 13 other countries, including Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, took a similar position to the Canadian government in not supporting this resolution. In the meantime, France voted in favor of the said resolution.

During the review of this resolution, the Canadian authorities made an unsuccessful attempt to amend the UN resolution in order to reject the accusations against the Zionist regime and condemn Hamas.

The Trudeau government has been criticized by ceasefire groups for its staunch support for Israel and its reluctance to call for an immediate ceasefire, and some members of Canada’s Liberal Party have even called on it to support a ceasefire.
