China Daily: America has turned the region into a powder keg.
The 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue Security Summit was held in Singapore from Friday to Sunday.
During the meeting, the US Secretary of Defense claimed today at the security meeting that the threat from China is real and possibly imminent. He called on US allies in the Indo-Pacific region to consider more budgets to meet their defense needs.
The state-run China Daily, in its latest note, wrote: But such statements and actions will only increase concerns in the region about the US returning to the region. The solutions he presented for the militarization of the region clearly contradict the US claim of promoting peace, stability, prosperity and security.
The Internet media also adds: Hegsett’s words are evidence that the US is still trapped in the Cold War era. He has played a destructive role by fueling regional disputes and has become the most important factor in instability and insecurity in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman also recently emphasized that the United States has deployed offensive weapons in the South China Sea to maintain its hegemony and advance the so-called “Indo-Pacific” strategy, and has brought the region to the brink of explosion by fueling tensions and raising deep concerns among regional countries.
This article notes: In recent years, while other regions of the world have been involved in successive crises, the Asia-Pacific has mainly moved on the path of peace and development; a path to which China has made a major contribution. However, the United States, to maintain its global dominance, has introduced China as a strategic rival and is trying to tarnish its image in every possible way.
“Hegst’s baseless accusations, especially on Taiwan and the South China Sea issues, are an attempt to advance the US agenda, and show that the US’s return to the region is only serving its selfish interests.”
The note also warns, pointing out the connection between these remarks and the Taiwan issue: Relying on an exclusive security perspective, the US has been continuously interfering in Taiwan issues and South China Sea disputes, and has been trying to exert pressure by threatening China’s fundamental interests and undermining the security of its surrounding environment. This approach poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. If the US continues to take this dangerous path, China will be forced to resolutely defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
