Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said that China has always opposed unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and have not been approved by the UN Security Council, and opposes interference by foreign forces in Venezuela’s internal affairs under any pretext.
Mao added that China urges the United States to lift its illegal unilateral sanctions and take more measures to contribute to peace, stability and development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
According to the Chinese official, the only path that can contribute to “peace, stability and development in Latin America and the Caribbean” is to stop Washington’s unilateral pressure. He called on the US to abandon the path of escalating tensions and respect the realities of the region.
