China: The Palestinian issue is the core of the Middle East crisis.
Last night, the United Nations meeting on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, jointly hosted by Saudi Arabia and France at the United Nations, issued a final statement known as the “New York Declaration.”
In response to the news, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun said: “China supports holding a high-level meeting on the implementation of the two-state solution at the United Nations.”
He also said that China appreciates the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in this regard and welcomes the fact that this meeting has once again strengthened the international community’s consensus on the Palestinian issue and raised a stronger voice in support of a political solution based on the “two-state” solution.
Gua Jiakun also explained that Jia Jun, the Chinese government’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, attended the meeting and in his speech called for a complete cessation of hostilities as soon as possible, reducing the humanitarian crisis, adhering to the principle of “Palestine under Palestinian rule”, strengthening sovereignty in Gaza and the West Bank, supporting the internal unity of the Palestinians, and helping to empower them in governance and strengthening economic resilience.
