China: We firmly support Syria’

According to Sputnik, based on the joint statement of China and Syria on the occasion of the establishment of strategic partnership relations, China has expressed its opposition to the presence of illegal forces in Syria and the looting of its natural resources.

The text of this joint statement published by China Central Television states that “China opposes the illegal military presence in Syria, illegal military operations and illegal plundering of natural resources in Syria.”

In this statement, it is also emphasized that “China firmly supports Syria in protecting its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. We support the policies and actions of the Syrian government to maintain security, stability and national development, and we oppose the interference of foreign forces in Syria’s internal affairs and weakening its security and stability.

A few hours ago, SANA, the official news agency of Syria, announced that the Syrian Arab Republic and the People’s Republic of China issued a joint statement regarding the establishment of strategic partnership relations between the two countries after the meeting between the heads of Syria and China, Bashar al-Assad and Xi Jinping, in Hangzhou, China.

SANA also published the text of the statement of the strategic partnership agreement between Syria and China, in which it is emphasized that “the two sides will continue to exchange firm support on issues related to the main interests and main concerns of the other side, and the Syrian side is firmly committed to the principle of “one China”. “is and accepts that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government that represents all of China and that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory and supports China’s efforts to maintain its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.”

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in China on an official visit on Thursday. This is the first visit of the president of Syria to China after nearly 2 decades. Bashar al-Assad’s trip to China took place at the official invitation of the president of this country, Xi Jinping, along with his wife, named al-Assad.

Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Maqdad, Economy Minister Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil, President’s Special Adviser Bethina Shaaban, Deputy Foreign Minister Ayman Sosan, and Syrian Ambassador to China Mohammad Hassanein are accompanying the President of their country during this trip. According to media reports, considering China’s role in helping Syria overcome the economic crisis, Syrian officials have said that the visit will be “very important” and that Assad will meet his Chinese counterpart in an official ceremony. Bashar Assad’s last trip to China dates back to 2004.
