China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, expressed hope that “the suffering caused by this tragedy” would end as soon as possible during a UN Security Council meeting on Gaza.

He considered the implementation of an immediate and lasting ceasefire agreement in Gaza to be a vital issue, saying: If the January agreement were fully implemented, it could pave the way for a lasting ceasefire and the return of all Israeli prisoners.

Criticizing Israel’s military action in Gaza, which has left more than 60,000 martyrs so far, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations emphasized: “The reality is that military means are not the solution.”

He also expressed concern about the Zionist regime’s occupation actions and condemned the humanitarian crisis and collective punishment of the people of Gaza.
