China’s Amb. to US: Beijing Abstains from Supplying Arms to Sides in Ukraine War.

China has once again emphasized its neutral stance in the Ukraine crisis, rejecting claims by US President Joe Biden that Beijing is aiding Russia’s war effort. Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in the US, stated that China is committed to promoting peace and does not provide arms to either side of the conflict.

In a recent interview, Liu Pengyu clarified that China’s trade with Russia is conducted openly and in accordance with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, with strict controls in place to prevent the export of dual-use goods that could be used for military purposes.

The Chinese government has consistently maintained that it will not provide military aid to either Russia or Ukraine, and will instead focus on promoting dialogue and peace talks to resolve the crisis. Chinese Defense Minister Dongjun recently reiterated this stance at the Shangri-La Forum in Singapore, stating that Beijing has never provided weapons to either side and has imposed strict controls on the export of multipurpose goods.

Meanwhile, China has announced that it will not participate in the Ukraine peace conference hosted by Switzerland in June, citing unmet conditions for its participation. Beijing has instead expressed support for the establishment of an international conference that would bring together both Moscow and Kiev to resolve the crisis.

China’s stance has been consistent in calling for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis, and its recent statements serve as a reaffirmation of this commitment.
