Chinese media: Dialogue is the only right option between China and the US.
China’s official People’s Daily, using the pretext of the recent phone call between the Chinese and American presidents, has discussed the results of this call and the Chinese side’s expectations from these interactions to resolve obstacles to cooperation in its latest article titled “Dialogue and Cooperation Are the Only Correct Choices in China-US Relations.”
According to official and reputable Chinese and American media, Xi Jinping and Trump finally held a phone call last Thursday.
During the call, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that to correct the course of the great ship of China-US relations, “we must keep the rudder straight and set the right course.” He also stressed that any interference and sabotage must be prevented.
The People’s Daily article wrote in this regard: “This conclusion is very important for the proper management of differences and strengthening cooperation at the current juncture, and it clearly demonstrates China’s consistent approach to taking responsibility in relations with the US.”
The article continued: “After the Geneva talks, China has earnestly pursued, strictly implemented and actively upheld the agreements reached. However, the US has unilaterally imposed discriminatory restrictions on China, which has seriously undermined the existing agreements.”
The article also states: China is both honest and principled in resolving economic and trade issues with the United States. Once an agreement is reached, both sides should respect it and strive for win-win results. The United States should accept the facts of the progress made and cancel the negative measures against China.
According to the People’s Daily, after the tariff adjustment under the Geneva Agreement, the shipping market between China and the United States has boomed, with “not a single empty ship.” This shows that the nature of economic and trade relations between the two countries is mutual and beneficial.
The article also emphasizes that coordination and cooperation between China and the United States are essential for domestic development, global economic recovery, and the resolution of international and regional issues; the two sides should enhance cooperation in diplomatic, economic, military, and security fields and manage misunderstandings.
