Christians in Damascus suburbs are angry over growing insecurity; terrorists attack homes of Syrian citizens.
According to the Al-Nahar newspaper, the Maaloula area, located in the suburbs of Damascus, where the majority of its residents are Christians, witnessed many tensions and clashes yesterday. During the attack by a masked person on another person’s agricultural land and shooting at him, killing the landowner, the residents of Maaloula protested against the lack of security.
In addition, elements of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have begun a large-scale wave of arrests of various individuals whom they claim were in contact with the Bashar al-Assad regime.
This is while many party and political activists and famous figures in Maaloula have been arrested by terrorist elements on various pretexts. Residents of this area have criticized the terrorists for attacking private homes and breaking down doors to arrest Syrian citizens.
In addition, the number of robberies and rapes in Maaloula has increased so much that several residents of this area have decided to leave it. Videos have also been published on social media showing that the Christians of Maaloula have been forced to leave the area.
After the fall of the Assad regime and the spread of insecurity in Syria, more than 140 people have lost their lives in various regions of the country.
