Christmas with a taste of blood; Zelensky rejects ceasefire offer with Russia.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s response to his proposal for a ceasefire during the New Year was negative, according to TASS.
Orban wrote on the social network “X”: “At the end of the Hungarian presidency of the European Union, we made new attempts to establish peace. We proposed a Christmas ceasefire and a large-scale exchange of prisoners, and unfortunately, Zelensky rejected this offer. We did what we could!”
The Hungarian Prime Minister did not clarify how the peace proposal was sent to Zelensky and how he received a response from him. According to him, the two countries are actively using diplomatic channels and embassies located in Budapest and Kyiv.
Earlier on Wednesday, Orban spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of the topics of the conversation was ways to resolve the war in Ukraine. After this conversation, Orban emphasized that he would continue his peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
