After the October 7 operation, the Central Intelligence Agency of America formed a working group to provide intelligence assistance to Israel to find the whereabouts of Hamas leaders.

The New York Times newspaper reported that the Central Intelligence Agency of America (CIA) is trying to help Israel by forming a special task force to track the senior leaders of Hamas and the hiding place of Israeli prisoners in Gaza.

American officials have told this newspaper that this task force, which started working after the Hamas operation on October 7, has discovered information about the senior leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement.

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on the 7th of October in response to more than seven decades of occupation of Palestine and nearly two decades of siege of Gaza and imprisonment and torture of thousands of Palestinians, began the operation known as Al-Aqsa Storm.

This operation was one of the deadliest attacks against this regime. Hamas fighters penetrated into the occupied territories through the border fences at several points, attacked the villages, and in addition to killing a large number of Israelis, captured a number of them.

In response to this operation, the Israeli regime launched heavy attacks against Gaza and placed this area under a complete siege. More than 23,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, have been martyred in these attacks so far.

Immediately after October 7, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan sent a memo to the intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Defense requesting the formation of this task force and gathering information about Hamas leaders.

The New York Times wrote that it is not yet clear how valuable the formation of this working group was for Israel, but none of the highest-ranking leaders of Hamas have been arrested or killed yet. The United States does not provide Israel with information on low-level or middle-level Hamas officials.
