CNN’s account of the hard winter of Palestinian refugees in Gaza; “We are dying of cold”

PNN – The American news channel narrated the challenge caused by the cold weather and floods in the shadow of international inaction and restrictions on aid to Gaza and quoted a Palestinian refugee and wrote: We do not have water, food and life and we are dying of cold.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, CNN added: Standing barefoot with an empty container in her hand in a crowded drinking water distribution area in central Gaza, Palestinian girl Alaa al-Shawish worries about the winter weather and searches for safe water for her family.

The Ala family now lives in a temporary tent in Deir al-Balah after being displaced by the Israeli regime’s heavy bombardment in Gaza City, but their new shelter also has its own deadly dangers.

Alaa says while trying to stop her tears: We are dying from the cold. This is not life, we do not live. Every day I wish to die so that I can get rid of this life.

Several Palestinians and at least 5 Palestinian babies have died due to the cold weather in recent days, and the Palestinian refugee relief agency, UNRWA, warned that more children are likely to die in the coming days due to the cold weather.

The report of the Palestinian Ministry of Health shows that the babies who died due to hypothermia were all under one month old. Palestinian health authorities have announced that a two-year-old child has died due to cold in recent days.

More than 13,000 Zionists have been hospitalized in the War Ministry’s rehabilitation unit.

Yahya al-Batran, the father of the 5-day-old Palestinian baby who died on Friday, said: “I saw the death of my child in front of my eyes.”

He added while holding the lifeless body of his baby in the hospital: “He died of cold, he froze.”

The cold weather not only kills Palestinian children, but on Friday, the Gaza Ministry of Health announced that it had found the body of a nurse in his tent in al-Mowasi due to extreme cold.

In the past few days, in addition to the extreme cold, the rain has caused floods and waterlogging in the tents of Palestinian refugees throughout Gaza.

The Civil Defense of Gaza also said that more than 1,500 tents were flooded with more than 30 centimeters of rainwater, and people’s small possessions were damaged and blankets and sheets were wet. Hundreds of other tents have also been damaged by the rain.

A video obtained by CNN on Tuesday from Deir al-Balah shows pools of water between tents and children and adults shoveling mud. The mattresses, carpets and clothes inside the fabric and nylon tents are wet with water.

Kugat, the Zionist agency that oversees the transfer of aid shipments to Gaza, claims that 1,290 humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza last week. But this amount is much lower than the average crossing of 500 trucks that entered this area before the October 7 war.

CNN wrote: Salem Abu Umra is one of the Palestinian civilians who bear the burden of cold and lack of food in Gaza. He says his family is “struggling to survive” in temporary tents in Deir al-Balah.

This Palestinian also said: We are suffering from the rain and we have been flooded. I have three children who are shivering in our tents at night in this cold weather. They need clothes, tents and suitable shelters to live in.
