President Kolmia’s statements came as the Israeli regime seized several ships of the Samood fleet and arrested a number of activists hours earlier.
The Colombian president had previously warned against any possible attack on the “Samoud flotilla” heading to the Gaza Strip, calling it a clear violation of international law and a crime against humanity.
He noted that the human fleet “has entered a very dangerous area,” adding that drone activity is increasing and unidentified ships are being seen on radar.
All ship passengers are wearing life jackets and are on full alert for any possible attack.
Petro emphasized: The lives and dignity of the more than 500 civilians and volunteers present in this humanitarian mission must be respected.
He also noted that two Colombian citizens, Manuela Pedia and Luna Barrito, are among the passengers of this fleet.
