PNN – The Columbia University of New York, America, which has been unable to reach an agreement with the pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel students, and the president of the university has started suppressing the students with the cooperation of the police, now after these protests did not end, he threatened the students to stop the protests otherwise they will be suspended from continuing their education.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Columbia University of America warned the students supporting the movement of solidarity with the people of Gaza, who have camped (tents) in this university for more than a week, if they do not vacate the tents by Monday afternoon local time, they will be suspended.
“As you probably know, the dialogue between the university and the student leaders of the camp has unfortunately reached an impasse,” Columbia University in New York said in a statement.
In this threatening statement, Columbia University asked students to “gather their belongings and leave the tents.”
Columbia University also said, “It is important to know that the University has already identified many students in tents. If you do not identify yourself upon departure and sign the form now, you will not be eligible to sign and complete the semester in good standing.”

According to CNN, Columbia University has announced that it will provide an alternative location for the demonstration after the end of the exam period, and that the current unauthorized tents “create an uncomfortable environment for members of our community.”
Columbia University also claimed: “Foreign actors have also contributed to this environment, which has raised security concerns — including for our neighbors.”
New York’s Columbia University, which has become the center of the “solidarity with the people of Gaza” movement these days, asked the pro-Palestinian protesters to disperse and announced that it will not sever relations with Israel against the demands of the students of this university.
The protesting students of Columbia University want to stop the investment of this university in arms companies affiliated with Israel. In the past, this university has given up investment in other cases at the request of students.
One of the main demands of pro-Palestinian student groups at Columbia University since last week has been for the university to divest funds from companies that profit from Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
Columbia University said in a statement that while constructive discussions between student leaders and university officials have continued since last week, “unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement.”
The letter, led by Josh Gottheimer and Dan Goldman, claims that pro-Palestinian protesters are “unwilling to sign a reasonable agreement to end the sit-in.” They say this must happen in order for Colombia to include the Sixth Amendment to the US Civil Rights Act.
This letter states: The time for negotiation is over. Now is the time to act. Finally, it is the duty of the board of trustees to act. If any of the trustees are unwilling to do so, they should resign to be replaced by persons who will uphold the university’s legal obligations under the Sixth Amendment.”
These efforts put more political pressure on the Colombian authorities. Before this, some prominent republicans called for the resignation of Minuche Nemat Shafiq, the president of Colombia.
