Commander of Centcom: Iran and America do not want war with each other

PNN – Michael Korilla, the commander of the US Army Central Staff (CENTCOM), emphasizing that Iran and the United States do not want a direct war with each other, said that: Our operations in Iraq and Syria stopped the attacks of proxy groups on Washington’s positions in these countries, but it did not stop the attack of Yemen’s Houthis in the Red Sea.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoting from the Stars and Stripes website, Kurila said on Thursday local time at the hearing in the US Senate Armed Services Committee: Iran’s actions have consequences.

Referring to the American attacks that were carried out in response to the killing of three soldiers of this country in a base in Jordan, he said: I think that in that attack, our message matched our actions. In my opinion, this attack sent a strong message of deterrence and we have not been attacked in Iraq and Syria in the last 32 days. But I tell you that deterrence is always temporary.

He also stated about the attack of the Palestinian resistance on Israel that this attack “permanently changed” the situation in the Middle East region and “laid the ground for malicious actors to create instability in the region and beyond.”

Kurila added: Iran saw this situation as a rare opportunity to shape the Middle East in its favor.

He emphasized that neither Iran nor America wants a direct war with each other.

According to the report published by the website of the US Department of Defense from the hearing of the Senate Armed Forces Committee, the commander of Centcom also said in this meeting that the vast network of Iran-affiliated forces is armed with advanced and sophisticated weapons and threatens some vital areas of the world, which will have consequences for the world and the United States.
