PNN – Current and former students of the University of Michigan in the United States sued the university officials for suppressing pro-Palestinian protesters and violating the right to freedom of expression.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Middle East Eye website wrote: This lawsuit was recently filed in the Detroit local court. Under this lawsuit, the University of Michigan has been accused of violating the students’ right to freedom of expression based on the constitution and the procedures and protections for students in this law.
This report added: 6 current and former American students have also accused the University of Michigan for initiating unprecedented disciplinary measures against students under the pretext of freely expressing their thoughts.

Plaintiffs also alleged that they were subjected to varying degrees of race-based disciplinary action at the university and that they were fired from university jobs or blacklisted for future employment.
In America, student protests against the Zionist regime began following the regime’s devastating attacks on the Gaza Strip. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have called the actions of the Israeli regime in Gaza an example of genocide.
Student protests in the 2023 academic year became a common thing in American universities, and this year they have been held sporadically. Human rights groups say universities and the US government are suppressing free speech.
In September 2024, students from the group known as “Justice for Palestine” sued their university officials for preventing the “Religious Awakening” ceremony to honor the martyrs of Gaza, and a federal judge ruled that the university could not prevent the ceremony.
A Republican-controlled committee in the US House of Representatives claims that university presidents have allowed the practice of anti-Semitism in university environments and even the director of US national security claimed that Iran supports student activities in support of Palestine.
