Condemning the racist action of the United States in banning the entry of citizens of certain countries.
Alireza Hashemi-Raja, Director General of Iranian Affairs Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the recent move by the US government to ban the entry of Iranian citizens and several other countries with predominantly Muslim populations into the US.
Hashemi-Raja described this move as a clear sign of the dominance of a superior and racist mentality among American policymakers and stated: The US government’s decision to ban the entry of Iranian nationals – simply because of their religion and nationality – not only indicates the deep hostility of American decision-makers towards the Iranian and Muslim people, but also violates the fundamental principles of international law, including the principle of non-discrimination and fundamental human rights.
The Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Iranians Abroad added: “Depriving hundreds of millions of people of the right to travel to another country – solely based on their nationality or religion – is an example of racial discrimination and systematic racism in the US ruling body and is considered a violation of international norms in the field of human rights and will entail international responsibility for the US government.” Hashemi Raja called for the United Nations and human rights institutions to openly oppose the unilateral approaches that violate human rights norms by the US and emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not refrain from any action to protect the rights of Iranians against the effects and consequences of the discriminatory decision of the US government to protect the rights of Iranians.
