PNN – The US Congress hosted Trump administration officials in a controversial meeting to receive explanations about the attack on Iran; Chris Murphy said about the content of the meeting: Trump’s claim about the attack does not make sense. Â
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, Trump administration officials met with members of Congress in a confidential briefing today, after spending the previous day denying reports about the limited impact of US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Accordingly, Chris Murphy, a Democratic senator and member of the Congressional Intelligence Committee, told reporters after this confidential meeting: Trump administration officials have not provided any new information that indicates that Iran’s nuclear program has been “destroyed.”

He clarified: It seems that we have only been able to delay Iran’s nuclear program by a few months.
The senator added, referring to the confidentiality of the meeting details: There is no doubt that this program has been damaged, but the claim of its complete destruction does not make sense.
Murphy also objected to the absence of the US Director of National Intelligence from this briefing, calling it a sign of the Trump administration’s lack of transparency.
Senator Mark Warner, another senior Democrat in Congress, warned that the administration may have been hasty in assessing the impact of the attacks. We still need comprehensive assessments to understand the true extent of the damage.
Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, also criticized the Trump administration, saying: There is no solid strategy or plan to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Senator Richard Blumenthal also considered the word “destroyed” to be “too strong” to describe the status of Iran’s nuclear program and emphasized the need for more detailed assessments.
These statements come after media outlets had previously reported, citing intelligence sources, that the US attacks had only destroyed part of Iran’s nuclear facilities. However, the Trump administration, without providing sufficient documentation, denied these reports and claimed that Iran’s enrichment program had been completely destroyed.
