PNN – Jewish and regional circles have warned that Netanyahu has sacrificed the security and interests of Israelis for his own personal goals, and that the appointment of David Zini as the new head of the Shin Bet, without any intelligence or security expertise, will increase the risk of civil war in Israel.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, following the decision of Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the occupation regime, to appoint David Zinni, one of the regime’s army officials, as the new head of the Shin Bet and successor to Ronen Bar, warnings in Zionist circles about the outbreak of a civil war in the regime have increased.
David Zini’s appointment as Shin Bet chief leads to Israeli civil war
In this regard, the Hebrew website Vala reported that Tel Aviv University President Ariel Porat sent a strongly worded letter to General David Zini, asking him to reject his candidacy to head the Shin Bet in order to prevent war and internal bloodshed among Israelis.
The president of Tel Aviv University wrote in his letter: Many Israeli economic officials had warned of economic collapse if the Supreme Court was challenged, and Netanyahu’s decision to appoint you as the new head of the Shin Bet contradicts the Attorney General’s instructions.
Porat strongly criticized Netanyahu’s challenge to the Israeli judicial system, emphasizing: The cabinet made this decision contrary to the opinion of the Supreme Court, while declaring the appointment of David Zini as head of the Shin Bet illegal.
Hebrew circles also reported that David Zini’s meeting with Netanyahu, as an Israeli army official, took place without the knowledge of Eyal Zamir, the army chief of staff, and that Zamir asked Zini for an explanation, and they ultimately agreed that David Zini would resign from his military position within the next few days.
Netanyahu’s office also announced that the appointment of a new Shin Bet chief is an important security issue and that the matter will be presented to the Appointments Committee.
Netanyahu said yesterday that the new Shin Bet chief will take office next month after intense disagreements over the dismissal of Ronen Bar.

Accordingly, David Zini will succeed Ronen Bar, who announced that he would resign from his position after severe disagreements with Netanyahu. In March, Netanyahu himself attempted to dismiss Ronen Bar, but the Supreme Court blocked this decision.
The Israeli Supreme Court ruled that Netanyahu’s dismissal of Ronen Bar was illegal, stressing that it would plunge Israel into a crisis. The crisis deepened when Netanyahu announced a few weeks ago that he intended to appoint former Israeli Navy commander Eli Sharbit as the new head of the Shin Bet, a move that was met with widespread opposition and led Netanyahu to back down from the decision.
Israel must rid itself of the worst cabinet
On the other hand, the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak as saying that Netanyahu will be forced to choose between a deceptive political war or the release of hostages (Zionist prisoners) and an end to the war.
Ehud Barak emphasized: It is highly unlikely that the continuation of the war will have different results than previous periods, and therefore we must immediately get rid of the worst cabinet in Israeli history.
Netanyahu’s coup against the Israeli regime’s security and military structure
On the other hand, regional experts warned about the new wave of political and legal controversies in the Israeli regime and the security implications of Netanyahu’s decision to appoint a new Shin Bet chief; this move is part of Netanyahu’s efforts to complete a security and intelligence circle that is in line with his view of prolonging the war in the Gaza Strip and rejects prioritizing the case of Israeli prisoners.
Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, an expert on Israeli affairs, stated that the appointment of Zeini as the new head of the Shin Bet represents the culmination of the changes that Netanyahu is creating within the Israeli military and security establishment with the aim of ensuring the regime’s officials’ complete loyalty to his decision to prolong the war and reject the prisoner exchange agreement.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he stated: David Zini is not only a security option, but his appointment as Shin Bet chief also represents a political decision by Netanyahu to restructure the regime’s inner circle. Netanyahu had previously made similar decisions, removing former Chief of Staff Herzliya Halevi and former Minister of War Yoav Gallant with the aim of bringing to power people who were fully aligned with his approach.
Dr. Muhannad Mustafa said: With this decision, Netanyahu also broke with the old tradition of the Shin Bet, where previously the new Shin Bet chief was chosen from among the previous deputy chiefs. These challenges reflect Netanyahu’s intention to continue to destroy the traditional Israeli government system and replace it with a new far-right system that violates all constitutional and legal norms and the Zionist consensus.
He stated: Netanyahu seeks to establish a permanent far-right government for Israel that does not care about consensus. He is exploiting the current war in Gaza to achieve this goal and wants to describe it as a “second war of independence,” just as David Ben-Gurion did when he established the fake Zionist regime in 1948.
Israeli Civil War with Netanyahu’s Decision for Eternal War
Hossam Shaker, a writer and international affairs researcher, also believes that this decision shows the Netanyahu cabinet’s clear trend towards perpetual war and is in line with the fascist rhetoric prevalent in the Israeli far-right led by Netanyahu.
He stated: David Zinni’s refusal to conclude a prisoner exchange agreement and his announcement of his opposition to this issue is a sign of political bias in line with Netanyahu’s approach, and this issue turns the Shin Bet into a new tool for achieving the goals of Israeli extremists.
This Arabic-speaking expert noted: But the developments that the Zionists are witnessing today are gradually causing the support of the occupying regime’s allies to cease, especially in Europe, where even Western governments can no longer tolerate the behavior of Netanyahu’s fascist cabinet.
Regarding the impact of this decision on the ceasefire negotiations process, Hossam Shaker said that the recent Doha talks witnessed the withdrawal of key Israeli negotiators, which means that the regime has no real intention of reaching an agreement. Netanyahu’s cabinet, relying on the support of US President Donald Trump, is proposing unacceptable conditions in the negotiations and wants to close all paths to reaching an agreement.
Faez Al-Duwairi, a Jordanian expert on strategic affairs, also stated: The appointment of Zini as the new head of the Shin Bet, without the knowledge of the army chief of staff, is an insult to the Israeli army and an unprecedented violation of its norms, and indicates the weakness of the leadership of the Israeli army’s general staff.
He added: This incident paves the way for new rebellions within the Israeli military establishment, especially since David Zini has no experience in the Shin Bet and lacks the specialized intelligence experience necessary to head it in time of war.
