Conviction of Netanyahu in the International Criminal Court; The demand of the Chilean legislators from the president

PNN – About 70 members of the Chilean parliament from different political spectrums asked the president of this country to present the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, Benjamin Netanyahu, to the International Criminal Court for committing crimes against Gaza.

According to Pakistan News Network’s report on Tuesday, quoting from the Sputnik Mundo website, a number of Chilean representatives who make up the inter-parliamentary group of Chile-Palestine gathered and officially requested the president of this country, Gabriel Burik, to appeal to the International Criminal Court to condemn the crimes committed by the Zionist regime led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against Gaza.

MP Ana María Gazmuri explained in an interview with Sputnik that this request is more than a political gesture. He emphasized: The international community has the duty to transfer Netanyahu’s actions to the International Criminal Court, and Chile is also obligated to speak about this matter.

Since October 7th and the surprise and unprecedented attack by Hamas fighters against the Zionist regime, known as “Al-Aqsa storm”, Israel has carried out non-stop attacks against Gaza, which have left more than 14 thousand victims and thousands missing. Statistics from the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) show that two-thirds of the martyrs are children.

We are not only talking about the shameful number of civilian deaths, including six thousand children, but we are also talking about the indiscriminate bombing of mosques and hospitals, which are the last refuge of the residents of Gaza. Israel is committing a genocide.

Jorge Brito, the head of the inter-parliamentary group of Chile and Palestine, also stated that Chile, in accordance with the position it has taken so far and promotes respect for international law, should introduce the person who is “responsible for all this” to the International Criminal Court. He added: Responsible for all these crimes is Netanyahu, the extreme prime minister of the Israeli regime, who has decided to deepen the genocide and killing of children and all Palestinian families.

MP Andrés Giordano noted that “Israel justifies barbarism, war crimes and the killing of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories through a terrorist attack, a clear display of the state terrorism of those who occupy this area.”

He also emphasized: Chile’s permanent position is to condemn the permanent violation of international laws that Israel is doing with complete impunity, and this cannot be tolerated. Netanyahu should be tried for crimes against humanity.

With nearly 500,000 people, Chile is the largest refuge of the Palestinian community outside the borders of the Arab world.

In the same vein, Gosmouri clarified that Chile, hosting the largest community of Palestinian descendants in the world, allowed the Chile-Palestine Interparliamentary Group Committee to be inclusive, and as such, there are “people of Arab origin in all political sectors.”

This large number of Palestinians who entered Chile five generations ago to escape from the Ottoman Empire and then from the Israeli regime and have integrated well into the society of this country, has successfully expanded in the social, economic and political fields.

Brito explained: “Chile has taken a historic position towards the cause of Palestine and the military occupation by Israel, and accordingly, the president called the ambassador of Chile to Israel for consultation, an issue that we feel should be maintained and added to more measures.”

The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, one of the defenders of the Palestinian cause, called his country’s ambassador to the occupied territories in early November, so that this action is a sign of the deterioration of bilateral relations between Chile and Israel.

He warned through his user account on X social network (former Twitter): Chile strongly condemns Israel’s actions and observes with great concern this military operation, which is at the stage of collective punishment of the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza and does not respect the basic norms of international law.

Chilean lawmaker Gosmuri emphasized: Israel is taking another step in its plan to completely occupy the Palestinian land, and questioned the indifference and lack of action of the international community, which cannot remain silent in the face of this goal.

In 2011, during the first conservative government of Sebastian Piñera, Chile recognized Palestine as a “free, independent and sovereign” state.
