“Netanyahu Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize.”
As soon as I saw this headline for the first time, a wave of questions flooded my mind: Can Trump be considered worthy of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize? Is the Nobel Peace Prize the same as the Swedish “Alfred Nobel” first introduced to the world? Wasn’t there anyone more deserving than Netanyahu to present this prize to Trump?…
The flow of questions continued, and what happened at the dinner of this third meeting between the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister since taking power in the Blue Room of the White House was not so questionable to me, and so I decided to examine how this news was reflected in the Spanish-speaking media with the three keywords “Netanyahu”, “Nobel Peace Prize” and “Trump”.
First, I turned to Spain’s most widely circulated newspaper, El Pais, which reported that Netanyahu, who faces an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, gave Trump a letter that was clearly a show of flattery. In the letter, he nominated the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize, an award that Trump has believed he deserves for years.
